Stanford West & Welch Road - Cable TV

My cable TV isn't working, but it was working previously. What should I do?

My TV only receives channels 1-12. What's wrong?

Channels 1-12 are courtesy channels available at no charge. You must subscribe to cable TV To receive additional channels.

How much does cable TV cost?

Monthly cost depends upon the number and kinds of channels you want. For students, courtesy room service is free, and includes Stanford programming and PBS.

Paid services include Basic and Premium channel lineups.

How do I return the Digital Cable Box when I disconnect my service?

If you live on campus, return your Digital Cable Box to the Residential Service Center in your dormitory. If you live in a Stanford residence off campus, return the box to the Apartment Management Office.

My roommate had the cable TV in his name before he left the University. Can I take over his service?

Is satellite TV an option at Stanford?

Satellite dish installation is not permitted on the campus. If you live off-campus, ask your landlord whether satellite dishes are allowed.

Is there a fee for moving my cable TV to another residence?

Yes. The charge is $11.00 as of October 1, 2011. You'll find the most recent rate information at http://www.stanford.edu/services/itrates/cabletv.html.

Does Stanford provide cable or boxes for connecting my TV to Cable?

Yes. Cables and cable boxes are available at Forsythe Hall in Room 135 at 275 Panama Street.

Your cable box and cables will be available for pickup the day after you submit your order.
