Effective September 1st, 2012, IT Services will no longer provide Stanford DSL service.
We are sunsetting DSL for the following reasons:
Stanford DSL has been provided by AT&T. Switching to their standard residential DSL may entail a delay of a few days to over a week. You may be able to avoid the delay by doing the following:
A Stanford IP address is no longer needed to access library materials, including databases and journals. You must have a SUNet ID, since many of these resources are licensed only for Stanford faculty, staff and students.
In most cases, the phone line/service that the DSL is connected to should be a residential line that you are paying for directly to AT&T. Please contact AT&T to address phone line/service inquiries.
For more information about DSL service options, see DSL for Faculty and Staff.
You may return the equipment to your department if your department desires. Alternatively, you may keep or recycle the equipment at Forsythe Hall, 275 Panama Street, Room 145. For after-hours access, dial 3-1611 from the callbox at the front door.
If my new carrier requires my current DSL service be disconnected prior to initiating service with them, how and when should I do so?
A Remote / Disconnect order needs to be placed via OrderIT with the requested disconnect date specified in the order. This order needs to be placed no less than 10 business days prior to the requested disconnect date.
